Strange things have been going on in this motel for five seasons. Can Norman continue his series of murders in season 6 of “Bates Motel”?

The prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”, set in modern times, follows the story of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore, “The Good Doctor”) and shows the causes that led to the tragic events in the film. Always at his side is his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga, “The Conjuring”). Their relationship is anything but harmonious and soon has deadly consequences. First for Norman’s personal environment and finally also for Norma, as we know from the film. Is the story over or will season 6 of “Bates Motel” follow?
Bates Motel Season 6: This is what happened so far
The story begins when Norman and Norma move into a house with a nearby motel. Norman’s father allegedly died in an accident and Norma wants to start a new life with her son. When the old tenant shows up and rapes Norma, she kills him. The police are not involved and they make the body disappear. But Deputy Shelby (Mike Vogel, “The Help”) becomes suspicious. Norma, however, is able to charm him and win him over.
Norman’s brother Dylan (Max Thierot, “Jumper”) doesn’t have it easy either. He is not only disadvantaged by his mother, but also dragged further and further into the criminal swamp of the city. Meanwhile, Norman has several blackouts and more and more people are dying, while Norma tries to cover everything up as best as possible and keep the motel running. In the fourth season, Norma dies, but even after her death, “Mother” is still a part of Norman in the fifth and final season. Can the story be spun even further in a sixth season of “Bates Motel”?
Bates Motel Season 6: Is a sequel possible?
The fact that the series would come to an end already explains the existence of the film “Psycho”. “Bates Motel” deals with the backstory of the two main actors and how the events of the film could have come about. That’s exactly how it was planned from the beginning and the creators of the series wrote the end of the series as a precision landing for the fifth season.
So the bridge to the film is built and a sixth season is therefore no longer really an option. Even though Norma and Norman or Freddie and Vera were a dream team from 2013 to 2017 – there is no happy ending for them or for the fans of the series.
